We’re invested in helping website owners succeed and be discovered through Search. That's why we provide a free suite of tools and resources to help creators and businesses drive billions of visitors to websites large and small.
We help creators and businesses get discovered online
Helping website owners manage their Search presence
To help surface the best information for you, we share information to help webmasters and developers succeed in having their content, sites and apps found. We provide extensive tools and tips including interactive websites, videos, starter guides, frequent blog posts, forums and live expert support.
Support documentation
The Google Search Central provides a one-stop shop for support documentation and educational resources like the Google Search Central YouTube channel, which includes more than 1,000 videos. With Google Search: Central Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) Starter Guide, you can follow the best practices to help search engines understand and present content improving your website.
Expert advice
Website owners can get help with their sites from experienced webmasters in the Google Search Central Help Community, including from Google employees and external experts. We offer online office hours in over 15 languages for live support from Google employees via Google Chat.
Search tools and troubleshooting
The Google Search Console tool helps webmasters troubleshoot, showing errors found on their sites and advising on how to fix them, from diagnosing malware to reducing load times. We’ve also built tools like the Webmaster Troubleshooter, Mobile Friendly test, Lighthouse and PageSpeed Insights to help site owners build Search-friendly sites
Helping promote safe and useful websites
Just as there's email spam, there's also search spam. We devote a lot of time and effort ensuring that your results are kept as clean as possible from search spam. This is also why, while we share lots of general information about how Search works, we can't share specific details. Otherwise, bad actors and spammers would be further enabled to try to game our systems and promote deceptive, low-quality content.
Providing helpful tools for creators
Since website owners can improve the usability of their site, we work hard to inform site owners in advance of significant, actionable changes to our Search algorithms. For example, in January 2018, we announced that our algorithms would begin to consider the 'page speed' of sites, six months before the changes went live. To aid website owners, we provided detailed guidance and tools like PageSpeed Insights and Webpagetest.org so that site owners could see what (if anything) they needed to adjust to make their sites more mobile friendly.
