As a Battery/UPS Supplier Quality Engineer, you will work in collaboration with Suppliers, Hardware Designers, Commodity Managers, Manufacturing Engineers, and Data Center teams. You will set and manage Battery/UPS component quality and reliability standards, drive supplier factory certification audits, and lead component and manufacturing site qualifications. You will actively manage NPI and sustaining quality, continuous improvements, and ensure lessons learned are actioned back to suppliers and partner teams. You will drive true root cause failure analysis and systemic corrective actions with comprehensive preventative actions. You will extract and analyze data from supplier facilities, Google production lines, and Google data centers to verify performance and drive improvements.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $115,000-$166,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Manage the supplier quality and reliability for Battery/UPS components, from NPI through end-of-life.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives during NPI phases to ensure the technical and operational readiness of the Battery/UPS supply chain for mass production.
  • Partner with Design, Manufacturing, and Commodity teams as the subject matter expert on qualifying and scaling Battery/UPS technologies. Influence product roadmaps and architectural decisions by providing data-driven insights on hardware quality, reliability, and performance trade-offs.
  • Drive the supplier selection and qualification process through on-site audits and technical assessments of their quality and manufacturing capabilities.
  • Drive the resolution of critical fleet and factory issues, leading suppliers through robust Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA), Failure Analysis (FA), and Eight Disciplines (8D) processes.
