Ads Account Takeover Engineering Analyst, Trust and Safety

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in data analysis, including identifying trends, generating summary statistics, and drawing insights from quantitative and qualitative data.
  • 2 years of experience managing projects and defining project scope, goals, and deliverables.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a quantitative discipline.
  • 2 years of experience with one or more of the following languages: SQL, R, Python, or C++.
  • 2 years of experience with machine learning systems.
  • Experience in one of the following areas: deriving actionable insights, root-causes and intelligence from complex data sources, rolling out security policies, measuring and communicating impact, cyber security, protecting accounts against any form of cyber threat, or using large-scale data analysis, to resolve complex problems, processes or operations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

About the job

Trust & Safety team members are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. They use technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and our partners from abuse across Google products like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. On this team, you're a big-picture thinker and strategic team-player with a passion for doing what’s right. You work globally and cross-functionally with Google engineers and product managers to identify and fight abuse and fraud cases at Google speed - with urgency. And you take pride in knowing that every day you are working hard to promote trust in Google and ensuring the highest levels of user safety.

In this role, you will be working with a team of analysts that assess and address threats against Google Ads accounts in the hijacking space. You will identify and solve complex problems at scale and have strong technical and security skills. You will be responsible, innovative and work well in a fast-moving, global, cross-functional, and team-oriented environment and demonstrate very strong technical know-how, effective communication to get things done.

You will also work very closely with engineering and product teams to make sure that you can quickly adapt our products and defenses against new threat vectors, to ensure a safe experience for users and advertisers. You will build, leverage and evaluate models and operations to solve cyber security and abuse problems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, detailed and actionable qualitative and quantitative understanding of the Ads account takeover threat landscape.
  • Design and build early warning alerts for novel and changing threats, based on researching, understanding and experimenting with attacker operations and a thorough understanding of attacker interactions with our systems.
  • Provide and apply our intelligence to be ready to respond to new adversarial campaigns or actors. Work with product and engineering teams to implement this intelligence into prevention and detection systems.
  • Manage the response to incidents aiming Google Ads Accounts, including the special response in case of severe incidents in collaboration with our partner teams (AdsSafety, AdsPlatforms, Account Security).
  • Work together with our vendor team to scale the operational work required to protect Google Ads accounts, such as managing escalations and alerts, and maintaining the ground truth quality.
