Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program management.
  • Experience in embedded software development (e.g., low-level software, firmware).
  • Experience in the development of factory validation software (FVS).

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience managing the development and integration of high-performance Audio and Video (A/V) processing pipelines for consumer electronics or specialized hardware.
  • Experience managing strategic vendors and partners, including aligning roadmaps, managing technical dependencies, and negotiating delivery milestones.
  • Experience in bridging gaps between engineering disciplines.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

Google Beam is developing software and hardware technology to enable people who are separated by distance to experience a conversation as if they were together. In this role, you will have the opportunity to have an impact working alongside researchers and engineers inventing the future of communication with Google products.

Powered by realistic state-of-the-art 3D imaging and spatial audio and integrated with today’s leading remote video platforms, Google Beam enables you to be immersed in the moment, together. As a part of the Google Beam team, you'll work with incredible teammates across all major functions in a fast-paced product-oriented environment. Your contributions will have an impact on the future of communications with Google products. You will apply technology to solve that really important problem that we often want to be together and we can’t.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $156,000-$229,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Bring software development to the Beam hardware organization and lead software release processes, timelines, and deadlines.
  • Drive clarity, understanding, and ownership on interdependent software feature development that requires coordination between hardware and software teams.
  • Own the management of OS and library software development, coordinating with engineering, and other cross-functional leads to ensure a stable code. 
  • Manage factory software release and validation, working with external partners, factory leads and system technical program managers.
  • Define the scope of projects and develop, execute, or manage project plans for supported programs.
