Minimum qualifications:
- Experience documenting best practices for refrigerator operations
- Experience with the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of a refrigerator or gas handling system in a production or research environment.
- Experience in assembling and test mechanical systems.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting dilution refrigerators or cryostat
- Leak checking and assembly skills relevant to vacuum or gas handling systems.
- Knowledge of machining and mechanical testing.

Google's custom-designed machines make up one of the largest and most powerful computing infrastructures in the world. The Hardware Testing Engineering team ensures that this cutting-edge equipment is reliable. In the R&D lab, you design test equipment for prototypes of our machinery and develop the protocols used to scale these tests for the entire global team. Working closely with design engineers, you give input on designs to improve our hardware until you're sure it meets Google's standards of quality and reliability.
The full potential of quantum computing will be unlocked with a large-scale computer capable of complex, error-corrected computations. Google Quantum AI's mission is to build this computer and unlock solutions to classically intractable problems. Our roadmap is focused on advancing the capabilities of quantum computing and enabling meaningful applications.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $81,000-$119,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Manage coordinate and overview of cryostat installation
- Execute routine and unplanned cryostat operation, and have technical ownership of operations documentation
- Implement changes to cryostat operations to improve reliability and resource efficiency
- Train other team members who need to perform cryostat operations
- Define software tools for monitoring cryostats, assisting operations, and tracking operational history
