Senior Manager, Privacy Compliance Assurance

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 14 years of experience in compliance, risk management, investigation, auditing, legal, or consulting.
  • 5 years of experience in Audit or Compliance leadership role(s) in the industry.

Preferred qualifications:

  • One or more relevant professional certifications (CIA, CISA, CMA, CA/CPA, etc.).
  • Experience leading and transforming a global organization, and engaging with and building strategic relationships with regulators.
  • Experience with compliance assurance in large, tech-driven organizations, performing risk assessments and identifying associated controls across all areas of the business.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations, compliance testing methodologies, and risk management principles.
  • Ability to motivate, develop, and manage multi-disciplinary teams, and to interpret complex regulatory requirements and assess their impact on business operations.
  • Excellent investigative mindset with strong problem-solving skills.

The newly formed Risk, Compliance, and Integrity organization (RCI) brings together critical compliance, assurance, risk and governance functions across Google to help the company meet compliance needs and enable businesses to innovate. The goal is to make compliance an advantage for Google by driving scaled, data-driven, and policy-based compliance programs. Google manages the operations through risk-based prioritization and governance and consistent and constructive regulator engagement.

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing Google's Privacy assurance domain testing and advisory function. You will lead a global team of Privacy experts who support assurance testing, manage controls and issues, and handle risk escalation and remediation. The goal is to mature Google’s Privacy control environment by establishing new processes, reporting on their effectiveness, and analyzing trends to develop new programs. You will also monitor remediation activities, create playbooks and KPIs for efficiency, and work with stakeholders on process automation. You will manage both the Domain Expertise and testing teams to provide advice and conduct controls testing for product teams across the organization. You will also manage a global team and will report to the Director of Privacy and Security Compliance Assurance.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $205,000-$288,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Set and implement strategy to drive the privacy program risk assessment, assurance, and reporting to better leverage automation, data, analytics, and monitoring. 
  • Partner across the assurance space to establish quality processes and standards to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of compliance testing and risk assessment activities, including reviewing testing reports and output findings.
  • Lead the identification, assessment, and prioritization of compliance and operational risks, work with stakeholders to develop risk mitigation strategies and plan timely actions to issue closure.
  • Develop cross-functional relationships with stakeholders to facilitate seamless testing and assurance, implement remediation plans, and enhance the scaling of the controls testing landscape. 
  • Maintain effective relationships with regulators through managing audits, reports, and certifications, partner with regulatory affairs on government and regulator audits/exams.
