Senior Lead Strategic Negotiator, Energy and Power

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience leading negotiations or business development.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Knowledge of power generation (conventional and renewable), grid infrastructure, regulations, energy market dynamics, and energy policy in India.
  • Knowledge of development, financing, and operation of energy assets, with experience crafting and executing complex energy supply agreements, PPAs, and contracts.
  • Knowledge of the complexities of mission-critical projects, with the ability to manage relationships and negotiate contracts with a wide variety of vendors.

About the job

Google's infrastructure needs go far beyond server computers. As Google's products and services scale the globe, the Strategic Negotiation team works behind the scenes to secure infrastructure for Google's future -- everything from underwater cables to physical data center space. As a Strategic Negotiator, you combine your deep market knowledge of a given sector with tech industry savvy to negotiate cost-effective solutions to support Google's infrastructure growth. You'll work with specific project teams on negotiating deals, managing vendor and partner relationships and presenting deal recommendations to our Tech leadership. Your successful negotiations have the potential to save Google millions of dollars in operating costs and impact every part of the business.

As an Energy Strategic Negotiator, you will analyze and communicate trends, and evaluate supply, investment opportunities, and agreement structures. You'll work with project teams to support transactions, energy portfolio planning, and vendor and partner relationship management. You will be responsible for developing and communicating recommendations based on analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage power and clean energy procurement initiatives in India to secure reliable, cost-effective power and carbon free energy for Google's data centers and operations.
  • Originate, lead, and contribute to transaction negotiations and commercial structuring for data center energy contracts, including supply agreements, interconnection agreements, power purchases agreements, etc.
  • Support energy regulatory interventions and policy advocacy initiatives in India to secure power and energy for Google data centers and mitigate operational risks.
  • Develop and manage strategic relationships with governments, regulators, utilities, energy developers, and grid operators to influence market acceleration and advance business priorities related to energy in India.
  • Contribute to key strategic initiatives and projects related to data center energy and evaluate potential energy supply and infrastructure investment opportunities.
