External Engagement Program Manager, Learning and Education

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in management consulting, product management and strategy, or analytics in a technology company.
  • Experience working with and analyzing data, and managing multiple projects.
  • Experience directing cross-functional initiatives, specifically coordinating efforts between internal product/research teams and external academic collaborators or consortia.
  • Experience designing, building, and managing a monitoring function, including developing metrics and dashboards (e.g., SQL, Looker).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience supporting visiting fellows or researcher programs to bridge academics with commercial product development.
  • Experience partnering with legal and research to manage ethical guidelines, data privacy, and peer-reviewed evidence collection.
  • Experience in planning frameworks (e.g., OKRs) and managing operational cadences with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Understanding of K-12/higher ed landscape and the strategic challenges of integrating GenAI into teaching and learning.
  • Ability to synthesize research and impact data into structured, persuasive materials for executive leadership and external partners.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to identify trends and translate complex data into actionable project insights.

Product and Business Strategy Leaders bring together teams across Google’s functions to help products execute optimally. Our team pushes Google to scale at key points that refine our products and infrastructure by executing efficiently, bringing solid business sense and sound judgment, and working effectively across organizational lines.

Our roles often include components of strategy (e.g. analyzing and understanding new trends in the industry, building business plans), operations (e.g. running the cadence of organizations, connecting the operating lines between our functions), and communications. Our team partners with senior leadership to run important functions that cross-cut our existing organizations and deliver high impact projects. We help Engineers, PMs, UX, and all of our other functions to build amazing products that delight our users, and then get those products into their hands.

In this role, you will be the primary driver of our institutional collaboration sandboxes which are designed to foster ongoing engagement with a consortium of schools, researchers, and organizations. You will manage the collaboration between Google product/research teams and external institutions to solicit user feedback and test the impact of our AI products in real-world contexts. You will have the ability to run smooth, efficient processes that create qualitative insight and quantifiable impact across multiple workstreams. You will be responsible for ensuring these programs run smoothly, managing the collaboration between external education organizations and internal product development teams to generate evidence-based insights into how AI can improve educational outcomes.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $150,000-$218,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Lead the full lifecycle of institutional collaboration sandboxes, from setting Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) and tracking milestones to launching the inaugural K-12 and higher ed cohorts.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between external education organizations and Internal Product, Research, and Engineering teams to ensure cohesive engagement and pilot execution.
  • Build and own the data function utilizing SQL and Looker to develop metrics, solicit user feedback, and quantify the real-world impact of AI products.
  • Synthesize complex research findings and project statuses into structured, persuasive reporting for senior Google leadership and external partners.
  • Optimize program operations, including partner selection, funding coordination, and the management of ethical and data privacy frameworks with legal and research.
