Trust and Safety Analyst, Government Affairs and Public Policy (English, Portuguese)

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Political Science, International Affairs, Political Communications, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience working on public policy issues within government (in Brazil), think tanks, public interest groups, relevant industry associations, or a company.
  • Ability to communicate in English and Portuguese fluently to engage with regional stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working with Trust and Safety, GAPP, and Legal colleagues in a cross-functional environment.
  • Understanding of Brazilian legislative/regulatory frameworks and global tech policy trend.
  • Ability to build relationships with government stakeholders, civil society, and industry networks.
  • Ability to lead and evaluate issues separately in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including tracking and managing milestones, stakeholder feedback and reviews, and action items.

About the job

The Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team leads the company’s engagement with executive branch officials, legislators, regulators and third-parties in the formation of public policy. Working closely with Google leaders, GAPP seeks to identify key policy issues, listen carefully to others views and opinions, and distill and share the company’s perspective on those issues with external stakeholders. While we focus on issues affecting the internet our issue areas are increasingly broad and encompass many areas where public policy, business, and technology intersect.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for political and governmental escalations concerning YouTube content moderation and conduct content reviews in line with community guidelines.
  • Be an in-country YouTube GAPP representative in Brazil that is on the frontlines of addressing issues to address Key Opinion Formers (KOF) concerns.
  • Develop crucial resources for the Global Public Policy team's engagement with external stakeholders. Assist with research, analysis, and implementation of policy initiatives, leveraging understanding of external environments and the policy ecosystem.
  • Be available for non-standard hours to manage critical escalations with cross-functional teams and provide executive updates. Collaborate closely with Brazil's Risk, Compliance and Integrity (RCI) and Legal teams to enhance awareness and understanding of YouTube's community guidelines.
  • Identify potential policy issues, monitor policies, participate in campaigns, and resolve government affairs issues.
