Technical Program Manager, Infrastructure Portfolio Planning and Insights

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program management.
  • Experience using data and quantitative analysis to generate business insights that drive decision-making.
  • Experience with data center planning and/or capital-intensive development projects.
  • Experience using SQL to extract and manipulate data; working with multiple data sources and combining information to generate analytical insights.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience fostering a data-driven culture by promoting the use of trustworthy data, developing clear and accessible metrics, and ensuring transparency in reporting and analysis.
  • Familiarity with power transmission and distribution, telecommunications infrastructure, data center technology, real estate or industrial class development, and/or other related areas of technical expertise.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with multiple levels including executive leadership team, peers, managers, and junior staff.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

As a Portfolio Planning and Insights Technical Program Manager, you will play a key role in shaping Google's long-term infrastructure strategy. You will develop data-driven supply strategies, analyzing and forecasting demand to ensure a dynamic infrastructure portfolio that meets Google's future capacity needs, while minimizing costs and mitigating risks. You will also inform long-term plans and roadmaps by providing insightful portfolio analytics to guide strategic decision-making and optimize the balance between underutilization and overage costs. Ultimately, you will advance Google's scalability by driving the development of a robust and scalable infrastructure to support the growth of Google products, including AI/ML and Cloud.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $142,000-$211,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Quantify impacts from the data within a portfolio ledger and dashboards to report and track progress that enables data-driven decision-making, including determining the health of whether assets Google controls are fully utilized.
  • Forecast infrastructure supply product types needed to optimally fill the powered assets portfolio, and collaborate on demand management to effectively utilize the resources within the powered assets portfolio.
  • Financial planning on a portfolio by providing full capex and opex view of inventory development needed by region for multi-year planning and budgeting that optimizes the existing and prospective land, energy, and infrastructure inventory.
  • Collaborate with project teams and cross functional partners to quantify and assess potential risks across the portfolio, considering factors such as infrastructure and development market dynamics, power markets, critical location factors, and geopolitical risks.
