Design Implementation Lead

Minimum qualifications:

  • Experience with the entire product development process, from initial ideation and research to prototyping, testing, and final implementation.
  • Understanding of industry best practices and emerging trends.
  • Understanding of design principles, user-centered design methodologies, and visual aesthetics.
  • Ability to effectively communicate design concepts, strategies, and rationale to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

About the job

In this role, you will directly shape the organization's direction. It requires deep collaboration and alignment by influencing stakeholders at all levels of the business and securing executive buy-in for critical design strategy initiatives. Everyday workflows will depend on soft skills and a keen awareness of situational subtleties.
This role's key contribution is translating multi-year and high-level design goals into tangible, realized programs. You will establish new, systemic design processes for both emerging and holistic collaborative spaces (i.e., CMF, Retail, Exhibition, Circular Design). You will also ensure a unified, impactful design story is delivered across the entire business portfolio.

This position requires proven skills in design experience definition, along with a unique ability to inject energy, momentum, and clarity into ambiguous initiatives. An understanding of the entire product portfolio is essential. Additionally, experience in fields such as fashion, experience design, and other non-tech roles is a significant asset.Google's mission is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $224,000-$315,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Act as a partner to design leadership, translating goals into actionable frameworks and creating clarity, scope, and structure for novel, ambiguous projects.
  • Define, inject momentum into, and strategically scope cross-disciplinary design programs (including CMF/design strategy workshops and speculative initiatives) by defining necessary resources and budget frameworks.
  • Develop and implements new design processes, strategic timelines, and budget frameworks (e.g., for exhibition design, sustainability, and CMF direction) to transform ad-hoc efforts into systematic, consistent, and quality-driven outputs.
  • Drive collaboration and influences outcomes across all organizational levels (up, down, and across the business) by leading executive presentations to secure buy-in and facilitating regular alignment with key business partners.
  • Require holistic understanding of the entire product portfolio to navigate interdependencies, advocate for design roles, and drive systemic impact rather than focusing on a single business unit.
