About the job

A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Program Manager at Google, you’ll lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish — working with stakeholders to plan requirements, manage project schedules, identify risks, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. Your projects will often span offices, time zones, and hemispheres. It's your job to coordinate the players and keep them up to date on progress and deadlines.

Google's projects, like our users, span the globe and require managers to keep the big picture in focus while being able to dive into the unique engineering challenges we face daily.

As a Project Controls Lead, you will be part of Google's Data Center team. You will serve in a key role to develop and implement best practice project control processes through collaboration with many stakeholders. You will drive the efficient delivery of Google’s Data Center Portfolio by the organization of data, implementation of scalable processes, and the use of professional tools.

In this role, you will lead optimization opportunities to deliver cost, schedule, risk, and change implementation across portfolio projects, increasing the transparency and accuracy of cost data with independent analysis and assessment. You will also be supporting decision-making analysis, using objective data to support recommendations that align with Google’s objectives. You are equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.
Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. We're proud to be our engineers' engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them. We keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of cost management, cost estimating, and planning/scheduling to ensure project and program objectives are met.
  • Support Data Center Project Managers with their projects, including cost estimating, cost control, forecasting, invoicing and pay applications, risk management, change management, and cash flow and schedule management.
  • Develop and implement a project controls strategy for the region and projects, proactively creating a positive impact on project outcomes.
  • Work with Google's Data Center Partner teams to understand resource needs and create plans related to project control delivery and management.
