Technical Program Manager

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

In this role, you are responsible for driving the execution of well-defined software development programs and projects. Operating with minimal guidance from executive Technical Program Managers (TPgMs), engineering, and product leads, execute on established processes and manages projects with defined scope and complexity.

Responsibilities

  • Execute established processes, drive projects with defined scope and complexity, and require minimal guidance from higher-level program managers, engineering, or product leads.
  • Exercise discretion and separate judgment, complete tasks outside of established processes when necessary, and demonstrate traits of a program manager, including organization, attention to detail, and strong communication skills.
  • Maintain basic project management skills such as project planning, status reporting, timeline estimation, issue tracking, meeting facilitation, and process documentation.
  • Understand technical concepts, system architectures, and engineering workflows. Engage in technical discussions with engineers and understand technical trade-offs. Identify and manage inter-team technical dependencies.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders (e.g., engineering, product, UX, etc.). Maintain strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication to keep teams aligned and informed on project status, risks, and decisions.
