Data Insights Analyst, Trust and Safety Compute

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in data analytics, Trust and Safety, policy, cybersecurity, in building scaled operations or operations management

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with machine learning.
  • Experience in SQL, building dashboards, data collection/transformation, visualization/dashboards, or in a scripting/programming language (e.g., Python).
  • Experience with large datasets and Python libraries like Numpy, Scikit and Pandas for data exploration and visualization.
  • Knowledge of Android security, app development and review workflows.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence cross-functionally at various levels.

Trust & Safety team members are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. They use technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and our partners from abuse across Google products like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. On this team, you're a big-picture thinker and strategic team-player with a passion for doing what’s right. You work globally and cross-functionally with Google engineers and product managers to identify and fight abuse and fraud cases at Google speed - with urgency. And you take pride in knowing that every day you are working hard to promote trust in Google and ensuring the highest levels of user safety.

In this role, you will drive strategic decision-making through in-depth data analysis, delivering actionable insights and recommendations with minimal supervision. You will apply your investigative expertise to uncover abuse patterns, analyze feature importance in decision-making models, and drive cross-functional initiatives to keep users safe on our platforms. You will discover anomalies, identify abuse patterns, and uncover product vulnerabilities. You will approach each data source with healthy skepticism, assessing its reliability before applying critical thinking to extract insightful recommendations. You will be the trusted authority and subject matter expert, cultivating in-depth knowledge within the designated areas of expertise. You will be the point of contact for insights and guidance on complex issues. You will develop and implement processes that proactively combat abuse.

A diverse team of Analysts, Policy Specialists, Engineers, and Program Managers, we work to reduce risk and fight abuse across all of Google’s products, protecting our users, advertisers, and publishers across the globe in over 40 languages.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain analysis pipelines to provide scalable insights for risk monitoring and decision-making. Work with large, diverse datasets from the Play Store ecosystem. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Engineering, Policy, Legal, Operations) to enhance Play Store safety and user trust.
  • Generate regular reports on key risk metrics, trends, and prepare and deliver concise presentations on health of operation, analysis findings, and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Design and implement automated and standardized analysis tools and dashboards using looker, empowering users to uncover business opportunities and make informed decisions.
  • Investigate the root causes of business problems, providing solutions that go beyond superficial observations.
