Software Developer Manager, Google Ads Remarketing Data Platform

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
  • 5 years of experience building and developing distributed systems, data processing, or related infrastructure.
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects, with 2 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.
  • 3 years of experience working in a matrixed organization.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • Experience working with advertising platforms.

The Google Ads Remarketing Data Platform team aims to empower remarketing across Google's properties and ad networks. We ensure remarketing data excellence by driving its life-cycle: ingestion, curation, reporting, serving, and integration. In this role, you'll build services and pipelines to experiment with products such as customer match and enhanced conversion. We're also rearchitecting remarketing data life-cycle systems for flexibility and power.

We also enable Google to engage with customers at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of developers by building and growing team presence in Waterloo by mentoring and fostering a positive and inclusive team culture.
  • Work with cross-functional partners to develop and execute mid-term technical goal and roadmap, to provide next-generation remarketing infrastructure for Google Ads, through requirements gathering and anticipation, system rearchitecture, and new technology integration and adoption.
  • Lead the team to maintain and improve product, development, operational, and support excellence to ensure reliable, privacy and policy compliant, high-performance operation of our remarketing infrastructure and products for across Google Ads.
  • Manage team project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., styles, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
