About the job

Be part of a team that pushes boundaries, developing custom silicon solutions that power the future of Google's direct-to-consumer products. You'll contribute to the innovation behind products loved by millions worldwide. Your expertise will shape the next generation of hardware experiences, delivering unparalleled performance, efficiency, and integration.

As a Product Engineer on the Global Manufacturing Engineering (GME), you will provide support for mass production products at Contract Manufacturer (CM)/Joint Development Manufacturer (JDM) sites ensuring factory readiness for changes, component qualification and performance standards. Your role involves resolving systemic manufacturing issues while driving continuous improvement in product health. You will also support New Product Introduction (NPI) by consolidating GME feedback on Design for Manufacturing, Design for Testing ( DFM/DFT), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and yield issues to meet product lifecycle phase exit criteria with a focus on hardware testing and manufacturing engineering.

Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. We're proud to be our engineers' engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them. We keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.

Responsibilities

  • Govern product and test requirements for sustaining products.
  • Drive NPI early engagement by delivering Bill of Materials (BOM) readiness, multi-sourcing initiatives, First Pass Yield optimization, manufacturing capabilities assessment, FMEA, Design for Excellence, Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) development and failure diagnostics solutions to ensure all production requirements are met.
  • Support product and component qualification builds at CMs/JDMs by driving factory readiness, delivering product training, facilitating second-source part qualification and co-ordinating BOM releases.
