Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience programming in C++.
- 7 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
- 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
- 5 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- 5 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.
- Expertise within cloud storage or cloud infrastructure.

Persistent Disk, Google Cloud’s block storage solution, provides reliable, exceptional storage solutions for low latency sensitive and high throughput workloads. Persistent Disk provides data protection capabilities that allow workloads to choose disaster recovery, high availability, and backup.
In this role, you will be a technical leader who innovates in this space with building a team that is delivering world-leading performance for Google's PD Backup family of products, and lead Persistent Disk/Hyperdisk's IO Performance team.

Responsibilities
- Set and communicate team priorities that support the broader organization's goals. Align strategy, processes, and decision-making across teams. Partner with and influence Director+ stakeholders from various organizations across the company.
- Set clear expectations with individuals based on their level and role and aligned to the broader organization's goals. Meet regularly with individuals to discuss performance and development and provide feedback and coaching.
- Develop the long-term technical goal and roadmap within, and often beyond, the scope of your teams. Evolve the roadmap to meet anticipated future requirements and infrastructure needs.
- Oversee systems designs within the scope of the broader area, and review product or system development code to solve ambiguous problems.
- Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
