Strategic Partner Development Associate, News Partnerships (English)

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 year of experience in a Technology or Media industry.
  • Experience working with C-level executives and cross-functionally across all levels of management.
  • Ability to communicate in English fluently to support client relationship management in this region.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience managing complex, end-to-end partnerships.
  • Experience working autonomously in a dynamic, ever-changing, and collaborative environment.
  • Ability to navigate with ambiguity, solve complex problems effectively across a large and highly distributed organization.
  • Ability to identify potential business opportunities, assess financial/business benefit, structure agreements, and discuss terms with strategic partners.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.

About the job

The EMEA News Partnerships team works to transform Google’s relationships with the news industry in Europe, Middle East and Africa. We build relationships that solve users’ needs, advance our partners’ goals, and further Google’s mission. Our team provides solutions from helping news organizations grow, transforming their business and finding new audiences, to helping our partners anticipate and navigate change that delivers economic and reputational value. We collaborate across different Product Areas at Google, ensuring a coordinated approach when engaging with our partners, to grow our business and theirs, build trust, and deepen relationships. Our team collaborates closely with other teams at Google to tell stories about our engagement with the news industry, manage regulation, strategic deal making and influence key opinion formers in our region.

In this role, you will execute the strategy for the Middle East and Africa
based on new or existing programs. You will negotiate content and product agreements in a challenging environment. You will maintain a keen pulse on the News ecosystem and Google’s role within it. You will represent your partners and play a significant role in shaping Google’s News initiatives. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure strategy aligns with their activities. You will be expected to collaborate on the rollout of projects with other Partnerships teams, Government Affairs and Public Policy, Communications, Legal, Marketing, and Product teams.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the planning and execution of the MEA News Partnerships strategy, addressing Google’s opportunities and challenges with News publishers in Africa, Turkiye, Israel and the Middle East - from a business and reputational perspective.
  • Drive product and content licensing negotiations with strategic partners, collaborating with Product, Legal and Public Policy teams.
  • Lead “One-Google” approaches for strategic partners, with the view to improve and deepen the collaboration with the partners including at the executive level.
  • Support the planning and roll out of Google’s News industry programs like the Google News Initiative (GNI) training and events, propose strategies and provide insights.
