Program Manager, Data Center Construction

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program or project management.
  • 5 years of experience in program or project management in either mission-critical facilities (e.g., data centers, chip fab), design-build or real estate development environment.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's Degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Construction Management or in a relevant field.
  • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience with data center equipment/environments (e.g., switchgear, generators, chillers, cooling towers, etc.) and understanding of start-up/commissioning processes.
  • Experience in design, construction, and commissioning of facilities with medium voltage and low voltage electrical distribution systems.

As Google expands its operations, we're seeking a motivated and experienced Data Center Construction Campus Lead (DCS Site Lead) to lead the design, construction, and delivery of data center projects in the Central region of North America. This includes a campus in West Texas.

This role requires a strategic leader with a proven track record in managing large-scale construction projects within a changing environment. In this role, you will oversee a team of Program Managers and Engineers, ensuring the successful execution of both new construction and capital improvement projects.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $147,000-$216,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Manage data center projects from inception through to completion.
  • Be responsible for gathering internal requirements and delivering solutions that satisfy customer needs maintain responsibility from construction to deployment and resolve highly critical issues within a organization while maintaining adherence to project timelines and costs.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders, including leadership from key vendors, trades, and commissioning agents, to foster strong relationships, proactively identify potential risks and opportunities, and ensure alignment on project objectives.
  • Provide leadership and development opportunities to internal teams consisting of project management and engineering professionals.
  • Optimize resource allocation across the project portfolio, proactively identify and mitigate potential issues that could impact project timelines or budgets, maintain a forward-looking perspective on resource needs, ensuring that master planning, utilities, design engagement, and equipment supply chain remain ahead of project demand.
