About the job

As a UX writer, you are an advocate for Google design, shaping product experiences by creating useful, meaningful text that helps users complete tasks. You help set the goal for content and drive cohesive product narratives across multiple platforms and touch points. As a stellar writer, your portfolio of work demonstrates content that simplifies and beautifies the overall user experience. You work with people in a variety of UX design-related jobs including researchers, product managers, engineers, marketing and customer operations. Collaborating with each, you strive to establish cohesive language and a unified voice across products and platforms. You regularly use empathy, logic and data to inform content choices and recommendations that include the right words and sometimes complementary data and images.

The Google Fi and Google Store Content Design team owns the transactional narratives between Google Fi Wireless and Google Store and our customers. Our team is responsible for crafting User Interface (UI) text in the signup and troubleshooting flows for Google Fi. The team also crafts content in the purchase, post-purchase, and customer success experiences for Google Store, which drive significant business of our Pixel products.

In this role, you will work closely with partners across User Experience (UX) Research, UX Design, Product Management, Engineering, Marketing, Support, and Legal.

The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $165,000-$245,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Lead the goal for content across Google Fi and Google Store, and help ensure cohesive product narratives.
  • Define and refine scalable content systems, guidelines, and best practices to help unify User Experience (UX) touch points.
  • Influence product strategy through insights, data-driven proposals, and content improvements that align with business goals and customer needs.
  • Manage content design discussions and help craft narratives and content frameworks that solve core business/UX problems.
  • Work on IC writing projects, for example, navigational strings, onboarding copy, error messages, dialogs, notifications, transactional emails, and other components of user experiences.
