Senior Manager, Machine Learning Manufacturing Test Engineer, NPI

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 12 years of experience in hardware test development and manufacturing test engineering.
  • 10 years of leadership experience setting organizational strategy including people management.
  • Experience creating and delivering manufacturing test strategies across multiple manufacturing levels, including functional and system level tests.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Materials, or a related engineering field.
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively influence the product design process by proposing improvements with associated data.
  • Ability to work, influence, and resolve conflicts cross-functionally with internal/external partners.
  • Excellent communication and people skills, with ability to successfully influence across multiple levels of the organization including senior management.
  • Excellent analytical skills, tenacious problem solver, and ability to weigh risks & opportunities to desired outcomes.

Google’s Technical Infrastructure (TI) organization builds, operates, and maintains the infrastructure that makes Google possible. This covers everything from data centers and global networks to the hardware and software running on them. At the core of TI is the Cloud Supply Chain & Operations (CSCO) organization that delivers the compute capability that powers Google and the Google Cloud Platform.

The Machine Learning NPI Test Engineering team enables rapid launch and ramp of new data center machine learning products by deploying efficient end-to-end manufacturing test solutions. We also enhance product value and quality through test coverage, closed-loop feedback, and Design For Testability (DFT).

As Senior Manager of Machine Learning NPI Test Engineering, you will be responsible for delivering the end-to-end manufacturing test strategy supporting the new product introduction of all GPU and TPU products in the machine learning portfolio. You will ensure that your team and our external manufacturing partners execute all test development, test infrastructure, and test capacity in time to meet product schedules and with extensive test coverage that ensures robustness of the hardware that meets Google’s data center deployment requirements. You will also be responsible for driving the long-term test strategy that enables improvements in cost, efficiency, and execution that scales to meet the growing ML NPI portfolio.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $208,000-$293,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Build and manage the overall team responsible for performing the end-to-end manufacturing test engineering function for Google's TPU and GPU products.  
  • Define the overall ML Test Engineering team strategy and strategic roadmap that aligns with Google’s overall ML product strategy, and drive alignment with key engineering and product organizations.
  • Drive test development both internally and externally with key suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure end-to-end test coverage required to support each product. Ensure seamless manufacturing test integration across manufacturing.
  • Manage the overall test infrastructure development budget, and ensure that worldwide ML test infrastructure and capacity can meet all ML manufacturing requirements.
