Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3 years of experience with one or more optical technologies such as client transceivers, optical metro, long-haul DWDM systems, or submarine systems.
- Experience in one or more programming languages such as C++, Go, or Python.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience building and maintaining software services, tools, and automation frameworks for analyzing and troubleshooting IP and optical networks.
- Knowledge of IP or optical network technologies (e.g., routing protocols, IP addressing, DWDM, OTN, etc.).
- Ability to write SQL scripts, query data structures, and extract network and diagnostic information.
- Ability to analyze business processes and provide data-driven recommendations for optimization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence others through data-driven insights.

In this role, you will work with a mix of global core network engineering and software engineering teams to build software solutions, and introduce technology to improve the Google network reliability and operational cost.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $122,000-$178,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Provide knowledge in setting requirements, defining software application design for network repair, and supporting existing NRE software services.
- Evaluate and adopt new technologies to support network repair evolution and operationalize new core network technologies for production.
- Leverage and build upon existing repair automation infrastructure to create a comprehensive and efficient network repair automation stack.
- Partner with software engineering teams to innovate and deliver repair-focused software systems and services.
- Develop and implement solutions to automate the lifecycle of network repair for Google's global core network, and reduce errors and operational costs.
