Senior UX Researcher, YouTube Channel Memberships

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with research methods (e.g., usability, studies, contextual inquires, 1:1 interviews, unmoderated research studies).
  • 6 years of experience in an applied research setting (e.g., product or academic), or similar.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Statistics, Psychology, Anthropology, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience conducting UX research on products and working with executive leadership (e.g., Director level and above).
  • Experience working collaboratively with team members across different geographic locations and time zones.
  • Experience conducting UX research on products, managing projects, and working in a large, fast-paced matrixed organization.
  • Ability to communicate research findings to stakeholders at various levels.
  • Excellent people management, communication, time management, negotiation, and collaboration skills.

Creators play a critical role in this mission and our team's focus is to help them achieve fun, fame and fortune on the platform. The relationship between creators and their community is a key part of that equation. As content consumption is becoming more and more participatory and interactive, our team is developing new ways for viewers to engage with creators in fun and expressive ways.

Channel Memberships is a fan funding product that connects creators with their viewers. It allows viewers to get more from the creators and the channels they love. Viewers can connect more closely with their favorite creators through Channel Memberships, get access to exclusive content, like behind the scenes videos, be recognized and connect with other viewers in like minded communities.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with Product Management, Engineering, UX Researcher (UXR), Data Science, Marketing, and other cross-functional teams to drive multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. You will work with and analyze surveys, have familiarity with inferential stats, uncovering qualitative insights, and implementing methods and AI tools to gather user needs and insights fast at scale. This role is part of a team of afn funding UXers which also includes paid digital goods in addition to Channel Memberships.

Responsibilities

  • Define, prioritize and drive the research agenda in close collaboration with the cross-functional team to improve the Channel Memberships experience for both viewers and creators.
  • Identify research gaps, distill findings from prior research, develop research plans and programs for qualitative or mixed quantitative and qualitative research.
  • Use a mixed methods approach when necessary, partner with UXR, Rapid Research, Engineering, and/or Data Science.
  • Build strong collaborative relationships with cross-functional stakeholders and across geographically distributed teams.
