Engineering Analyst, Trust and Safety, Ads Account Takeover

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in data analysis, including identifying trends, generating summary statistics, and drawing insights from quantitative and qualitative data.
  • 2 years of experience managing projects and defining project scope, goals, and deliverables.
  • Experience in one of the following areas: deriving actionable insights, root-causes and intelligence from data sources, rolling out security policies, measuring and communicating impact, cyber security, protecting accounts against any form of cyber threat; or using data analysis, to resolve problems, processes or operations.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a quantitative discipline.
  • 2 years of experience or familiarity with machine learning systems.
  • 2 years of experience with one or more of the following languages: SQL, R, Python, or C++.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Whether understanding and solving their online content concerns, navigating within global legal frameworks, or writing and enforcing worldwide policy, the Trust & Safety team is on the frontlines of enhancing the YouTube experience, building internet safety, and protecting free speech in our ever-evolving digital world.

Trust and Safety (T&S) Ads Account Takeover's main objective is to prevent damage to Google Users and advertisers through accounts by focusing on intelligence that will enable deploying upstream protections and defenses that are scalable and flexible but also focus on developing high quality robust operational processes. In this role, rely on defense in-depth when protecting Google Ads accounts. You will combine different types of protections and approaches to security.

We partner with teams across Google to deliver bold solutions in abuse areas such as malware, spam and account hijacking. A team of Analysts, Policy Specialists, Engineers, and Program Managers, we work to reduce risk and fight abuse across all of Google’s products, protecting our users, advertisers, and publishers across the globe in over 40 languages.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $126,000-$181,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, detailed and actionable qualitative and quantitative understanding of the Ads account takeover threat landscape, including designing and improving additional data collection, processes and quality measures to achieve.
  • Design and build early warning alerts for novel and changing threats, based on researching, understanding and experimenting with attacker operations and a thorough understanding of attacker interactions with our systems.
  • Manage the response to incidents impacting Google Ads Accounts, including the special response in case of severe incidents in collaboration with our partner teams (AdsSafety, AdsPlatforms, Account Security).
  • Work together with our vendor team (located in Hyderabad) to scale the operational work required to protect Google Ads accounts, such as handling escalations and alerts, and maintaining the ground truth quality. Provide the training required and work with Ads Safety to get tooling improvements when needed.
