Visual Designer, Google Shopping

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of visual design experience in product design or User Experience/User Interface (UX/UI) design.
  • Experience in Motion design in product design or UX/UI animation.
  • Experience in creative direction.
  • Include a portfolio, website, or any other relevant link to your work in your resume (providing a viewable link or access instructions).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with branding graphic design.
  • Ability to have innovative mindset with a proactive, self-driven approach with a passion for visual storytelling, the ability to succeed in ambiguity, and the capacity to manage projects forward with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent advanced technical skills such as exceptional motion graphics and video production skills, with proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects).

As a Visual Designer, you’ll rely on user-centered design methods to craft industry-leading user experiences—from concept to execution. Like all of our UX jobs, you’ll collaborate with your design partners to leverage and evolve the Google design language to build beautiful, innovative, inspired products that people love to use.

The Shopping team’s mission is to make Google an essential part of users' shopping journeys and the best place for merchants to connect with users. This role joins a team of visual and motion designers who are the creative stewards of brand expression and design standards for Shopping experiences. We build cohesive systems, foster design quality, and drive creative innovation, all within a dynamic and changing environment.

User experience is at the forefront of how we create intuitive, innovative, and beautiful products that people love. We strive to learn and understand our users’ needs, behaviors, and emotions to gather insights that inform product strategy and design. Our UX teams include designers, researchers, content strategists, and engineers who are passionate about quality, usability, and simplicity. We work on collaborative teams to solve complex challenges and craft experiences that highlight our products’ unique capabilities and personalities. Our work touches billions while exemplifying a key principle that is core to Google’s philosophy: “Focus on the user and all else will follow.”

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $129,000-$185,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Craft dynamic motion graphics, videos, and storyboards to communicate product experiences and influence engineering development.
  • Own the design process end-to-end from conceptualization and prototyping to final implementation, take ownership of projects, identify opportunities for improvement, and bring fresh perspectives.
  • Create visually engaging presentations for leadership, develop assets for cross-functional teams, and build excellent relationships to bring products to life.
  • Apply and support the use of design system principles in Consumer Shopping, and establish new patterns when needed.
  • Integrate AI-powered features into workflows and demonstrate adaptability in a changing environment.
