Software Engineering Manager, Continuous Integration and Release, GitEcosystem

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
  • 3 years of experience with large-scale infrastructure or Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) or Cloud Infrastructure, and Platform Engineering.
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
  • 2 years of experience in a people management.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with large-scale software systems.
  • Experience building and scaling products, demonstrating insights and an instinct for understanding user and developer needs.
  • Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, along with excellent communication skills, including the ability to articulate positions, and advocate for designs.

The Git Continuous Integration and Release(CI&R) team is responsible for a suite of products within the Git ecosystem.This is an opportunity to transform how Google engineers develop software within the Git Ecosystem. You will responsible for setting the strategy, leading a team, and driving the technical direction for critical Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) and artifact management infrastructure.

These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. We look across Google’s products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and execute the technical direction and strategy for significant components within the Git Ecosystem. Deliver and secure CI/CD experience.
  • Lead initiatives that advance CI/CD and software supply chain security. Revolutionize testing methodologies, ensuring secure dependency management, and infuse AI/ML to enhance developer velocity and product quality across the ecosystem.
  • Lead the team to design and implement solutions that make Google's development experience faster, safer, and more intelligent. Enhance the engineering productivity and security posture across the company.
  • Take on the most complex and ambiguous challenges within the Git development space. Analyze alternatives, make critical architectural decisions, and deliver solutions that address the immediate requirements and objectives.
