Technical Program Manager, Data Center Strategy and Customer Engagement

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in program management.
  • 8 years of experience in data center hardware, software, or other technology industry.
  • 8 years of experience in strategy, planning, or program management.
  • 8 years of experience in the design or planning of data center infrastructure.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 8 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • 8 years of experience in defining and driving large-scale cross-functional programs.
  • 3 years of experience in product management, management consulting or equivalent roles with a demonstrated ability to develop strategy and manage ambiguity.
  • Experience in data analytics and using quantitative analysis to inform executive-level decisions.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

The Portfolio and Product Management team in Data Center Technology and Systems is the strategic function in Google Data Center (GDC) that is responsible for data center portfolio definition, customer codesign, requirements influence and roadmap alignment, across different data center delivery models. We define data center and campus design with industry best density and capacity delivery speed, and interface with planning teams to provide the optimal campus and data center configurations for the customers.

As a Technical Program Manager within Google Data Center, you represent the customers, and collaborate closely with technical leads across infrastructure stacks (data center, IT platforms, network, software) to deliver industry leading data center solutions for the customers. With your in-depth data center technical knowledge, you will manage technical and business trade-offs, and define portfolio strategy and data center product requirements.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $183,000-$271,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Interface with customers and product management, and integrate technical verticals such as hardware platforms, network, power and cooling, and software to define data center architecture and design for internal and external customers.
  • Define data center product and technology roadmap and requirements (PRD) that meet the required capacity scale, performance, speed and cost, including standard and custom bespoke products.
  • Manage and plan the choice points to allow standardization and reduce bespoke configs, while balancing customer late-binding optimization and efficiency.
