Privacy Engineering Manager II, Photos and Google One

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience working in a privacy related field (e.g., security engineering, data engineering, data scientist, compliance engineering etc.).
  • 2 years of experience in managing resources (e.g., prioritizing work, project planning, and execution, etc.) to solve technical and operational problems, customizing existing solutions and frameworks to meet organizational needs.
  • 2 years of experience in managing, mentoring, and developing a team to drive initiatives and solutions for technological problems with company-wide impact.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience building diverse and inclusive teams.
  • Experience engaging key cross-functional stakeholders, driving consensus, and unblocking challenges to land changes across multiple business units.
  • Experience leveraging industry knowledge to determine privacy technologies or frameworks to solve technical and operational problems, customizing existing solutions, and frameworks to support business objectives.

At Google Photos, the mission is to be a home for all user photos to save and share what matters to them, and create a trustworthy platform for users to store, manage, share, and relive cherished memories. In this role, you will protect user privacy, comply with regulations. You will work with the Photos product and engineering teams to ensure that privacy risks are identified and mitigated to keep the trust of users and ensure Photos maintains its commitment to privacy standards. The team supports the entire Photos organization in building products that earn and maintain user trust.

Google Photos is a photo sharing and storage service developed by Google. Photos is one of the most sought after products at Google and is looking for both client-side (web and mobile), with server-side (search, storage, serving) and machine intelligence (learning, computer vision) Software Engineers. We are dedicated to making Google experiences centered around the user.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $189,000-$284,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Manage the Privacy Engineers assigned to Photos and Google One and support growth.
  • Partner with the Photos and Google One Privacy Lead on the state of Privacy programs, policies, privacy posture, and the overall direction of privacy for products and services.
  • Develop relationships with Photos' Product and Engineering teams to ensure privacy-first development and user experiences.
  • Improve Photos' privacy posture by providing guidance to engineering teams, privacy launch approvals, data access approvals, and other privacy consultancy work.
  • Lead Photos and Google One Privacy program.
