Global Games Editor and Content Strategist, Google Play

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience in UX writing, content design, technical writing, writing, editorial, marketing, or related, as well as leading content strategy projects.
  • Experience on UX-focused product writing and shaping content for multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Include a portfolio, website, or any other relevant link to your work in your resume (providing a viewable link or access instructions).

Preferred qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience working in a function or company focused on mobile, e-commerce, or gaming.
  • Experience in digital and mobile content writing and editing.
  • Knowledge of the mobile games ecosystem, categories, and business models.
  • Ability to refine and craft high-level communications for team leads and directors.

About the job

As a Content Strategist/Editor for Google Play, you will impact millions of users every day by creating content that is joyful, informative, and engaging for our gaming audience. You will bring strong editorial instincts, sharp investigative abilities, and impeccable verbal and written communication skills. You will be a gaming expert, and will use your deep insight to manage our content programs and ensure they are continually addressing user needs. You will work with other editors to develop, uphold and enforce our existing editorial guidelines and standards, and help syndicate and scale our content globally. You will bring an understanding of how to leverage AI for content creation, building for scale while maintaining a high quality bar as we expand our content coverage across games and regions.

Additionally, you will be comfortable working cross-functionally with Product, Design, Marketing, Engineering, and other teams to consistently deliver high quality content to users. You will also have a track record for successful prioritization, meeting critical deadlines, and enthusiastically addressing challenges with an eye toward solving problems.Google Play offers music, movies, books, apps and games for devices, powered by the cloud. It syncs across devices and on the web. As part of the Android and Mobile team, Googlers working on Google Play do everything from engineering our back-end systems, to shaping product strategy, to forming great content partnerships. They make it possible for people to do things like buy an ebook or song on their Android phone, then have it instantly available on their laptop. The Google Play team enhances the Android ecosystem by giving developers and partners a premium store where they can reach millions of users.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure seamless operation of existing editorial programs by producing an established number of editorial articles per year.
  • Create new content types and edit existing formats of long- and short-form articles and collections for the Games vertical.
  • Evaluate and curate Android games for quality and critical user journey needs.
  • Develop, uphold and enforce our existing editorial program guidelines and standards.
  • Work closely with our team of Content Strategists to help syndicate and scale our content.
