Trade Compliance Program Manager

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 year of experience in program or project management.
  • 1 year of experience in trade compliance operations, customs brokerage, trade consulting, or trade law within one or more APAC markets.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 4 years of experience in trade compliance operations, customs brokerage, trade consulting, trade law or related discipline in one or more of the APAC markets.
  • Experience in Taiwan/Vietnam/India specific trade compliance associated with consumer hardware imports.
  • Experience in consumer hardware prototype import/export and retail supply chain operations.
  • Knowledge of Customs Valuation, Country of Origin determination and HS classification, consumer hardware certification regimes and import/export licensing requirements and global logistics.
  • Excellent project and relationship management skills with the ability to engage cross-functional teams across geographies.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the pre-production and origin trade compliance program, including developing/refining process, performance metrics, SOPs, and automation efforts to streamline the supply chain and ensure supplier onboarding.
  • Handle shipment activities in APAC and internationally, including local customs brokerage and express carrier support, interactions with Google's product teams, engineers, contract manufacturers/original equipment manufacturers, logistics teams and other internal/external stakeholders.
  • Work with business units to identify compliance risks and provide guidance on import/export requirements for upcoming New Product Introduction (NPI) and sustaining programs.
  • Engage with external stakeholders (e.g., contract manufacturer, vendor, third-party suppliers, Customs broker, transportation, Distribution Centers) to identify opportunities and mitigate customs compliance risks.
  • Assist with a number of trade compliance programs, global projects/initiatives, including policies, playbooks, workflows, training and compliance toolkits.
