  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.

With technical and leadership expertise, you manage engineers across multiple teams and locations, a large product budget and oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple sites internationally.

As an Engineering Manager for GCS Traffic Isolation, you will lead the mission to provide a seamless experience within Google’s shared global storage system which manages exabytes of data for external customers and internal customers like YouTube and Gmail. You will lead a team of engineers owning foundational systems including the GCS Isolator framework, the Sunspot conformance system, and the Floodgate capacity protection service designed to proactively safeguard serving stack from overload, hotspots, and capacity exhaustion. You will drive the strategy for intelligent load management and isolation across Flow Control and Capacity Protection pillars and ensure consistent performance and high availability at planet-scale.Google Cloud accelerates every organization’s ability to digitally transform its business and industry. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $197,000-$291,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor an engineering team, fostering professional growth, high morale, and a culture of continuous innovation.
  • Define and drive the roadmap for GCS Traffic Isolation, collaborating with stakeholders to align technical strategy with business objectives.
  • Oversee the design and operation of foundational systems including GCS Isolator, Sunspot, and Floodgate to safeguard the global serving stack.
  • Collaborate with serving fabric and product teams to drive the integration of isolation technologies and best practices across GCS.
  • Drive improvements in reliability and efficiency through innovative load management while ensuring high standards for production health and execution.
