Global Import Classification Lead, Strategic Sourcing

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in a customer or client-facing role supporting harmonized tariff schedule search and interpreting classification concepts and references.
  • 10 years of experience leading global import classification operations.
  • 7 years of experience managing operations and leading cross-regional teams.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working in a cross-functional environment with stakeholders (e.g., Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, IT, Logistics, and Legal).
  • Experience classifying commodities for import.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Ability to work with the team and drive goals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and project management skills.

About the job

As a Global Import Classification Manager, you will be responsible for serving as a global import classification subject matter expert, provide oversight of the day-to-day operations, serve as the people manager of the classification team, and serve as the vendor manager for all applicable service providers.

In this role, you will guide the team by providing operational import classification compliance management, partnering with key business stakeholders and Trade Compliance Legal team to make sure that the team is meeting all corporate and regulatory compliance requirements to support the business. You will also work with both internal and external partners to define and measure operational processes, constantly using data to improve and strengthen compliance controls in the day-to-day operations. You will leverage functional and people management expertise, including managing in-region team members, project schedules, identifying opportunities to automate and streamline operations, and clearly communicating with all stakeholders.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $156,000-$234,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a goal for global import classification operations.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders, regional leaders, and global customs brokers. Exercise oversight of daily global classification operations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders and suppliers to obtain requisite product information to perform accurate import classifications and operational improvements.
