Senior Research Software Engineer, Google Research

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience programming in Python.
  • Experience with computer vision, machine learning or machine vision.

Preferred qualifications:

  • PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with publications in related research venues (e.g., CVPR, ICCV, NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, etc.).
  • Experience in the field of modern vision algorithm.
  • Experience applying deep learning to vision tasks, coding, debugging and deploying ML models.
  • Experience with robot navigation or autonomous cars.
  • Experience with data structures and algorithms.

Our current task is to improve map creation and mapping accuracy to enable autonomous driving globally by researching and applying machine learning models to the field of Auto HD Mapping.

Google Research is building the next generation of intelligent systems for all Google products. To achieve this, we’re working on projects that utilize the latest computer science techniques developed by skilled software developers and research scientists. Google Research teams collaborate closely with other teams across Google, maintaining the flexibility and versatility required to adapt new projects and foci that meet the demands of the world's fast-paced business needs.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $166,000-$244,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and development of vision models for mapping. This includes all aspects of model development: literature reviews, data collection, model training and tuning, evaluation, analysis, and deployment.
  • Leverage existing Google models and technologies to get to production fast. 
  • Contribute code while performing research, and take on whatever tasks are needed to drive the team and our partners to success.
