About the job

The Google Compute Engine (GCE) Compute organization is at the very center of Google Cloud Platform (GCP). GCE is GCP’s single largest business generator and it underlies and powers multiple services (e.g., virtual machines, databases, data analytics, Kubernetes, AI/ML, batch, cloud functions, monitoring, alerting, etc.) that GCP offers.

The GCE Control organization owns all major product surface areas that our Compute customers interact with when they deploy and run their workloads in GCP. This includes the graphical user interface (GUI), the command line interface (CLI), the Compute APIs, libraries for a variety of programming languages and our Terraform providers. Underneath these entry points lies a large-scale, globally distributed system that implements the control plane for all GCE-related operations. In addition to this platform, the GCE Control team also owns a set of full stack solutions to manage the guest operating systems and a select set of applications running on our customer’s VMs.

In this role, you will utilize a background in and passion for compelling and simple user interface design and engineering, and a solid understanding of distributed systems. You will build, run, and retain globally distributed teams and deliver complex systems under sensitive timelines, including working cross-functionally with partner organizations.

Google Cloud accelerates every organization’s ability to digitally transform its business and industry. We deliver enterprise-grade solutions that leverage Google’s cutting-edge technology, and tools that help developers build more sustainably. Customers in more than 200 countries and territories turn to Google Cloud as their trusted partner to enable growth and solve their most critical business problems.
