Senior Reliability Engineer

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in hardware engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience in applying Design for Reliability techniques.
  • 6 years of experience with Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
  • Experience in the consumer electronics industry.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with reliability testing and failure analysis techniques.
  • Experience with data mining, statistical software (e.g., JMP, Minitab), and data visualization tools.
  • Experience with leveraging AI tools, Large Language Models (LLMs) and machine learning concepts for predictive modeling and data analysis.
  • Understanding of statistical analysis methods (e.g., Weibull analysis, ANOVA, DoE).
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication, people management and problem-solving skills with a proactive, data-driven approach.

About the job

As a Reliability Engineer, you will play a key role in creating new consumer electronic products that meet a high bar for reliability and performance. You will work closely with the product management and design engineering teams to define standards, specify tests, and then supervise test execution and failure analysis. A broad engineering background and command of statistical methods will help to inform design of new products. Your strong interpersonal and communication skills will be key to ensuring adoption of your technical recommendations.

As a Senior Reliability Engineer, you will lead reliability planning, methodology, and execution for high-risk, high-complexity designs and integration aspects across multiple products. You will provide advanced expertise in developing reliability design and test strategies for new product development of complex designs and technologies systems.You will own and oversee material, design, or reliability innovations that have significant cross-organizational impact, encompassing industry-defining new technologies and evolutions of current technologies to improve performance, resilience, and time to market. You will play a key lead role in project scoping and priorities, including finding and allocating technical resources to help with the project work.The US base salary range for this full-time position is $147,000-$216,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify and mitigate potential risks in product designs and manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and implement Design for Reliability (DfR) strategies throughout the product development life-cycle, providing feedback to design teams.
  • Utilize Physics of Failure (PoF) principles to build reliability models and predict product lifetime under various use conditions. Develop and execute comprehensive reliability test plans.
  • Analyze large datasets from testing and field returns using tools like Python and advanced data mining techniques to identify failure trends and root causes. Leverage AI tools like Gemini and other LLMs to accelerate research, data analysis, and report generation.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to implement corrective actions and drive improvement. Present clear and concise reliability reports and risk assessments to leadership.
