Technical Program Manager, Android

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 year of experience in program management.
  • Experience in Technical Program Management, Software Development, and Mobile App Development.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 2 years industry experience supporting large projects.
  • Experience working on operating systems/platforms or familiarity with how large software projects are built and integrated.
  • Ability to work with multiple engaging priorities in a constantly changing environment.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a plan and schedule, with well-defined milestones. Coordinate client and server side feature development, acting as point person to coordinate complex matrix of releases.
  • Manage communication of progress/status within the core team and external to the team (stakeholders, partners, etc.). Escalate issues as necessary.
  • Assess the quality of releases through monitoring of incoming bugs and code changes to identify quality issues and trends to triage bugs, debug and resolve thorny technical issues, and drive occasional code yellows. 
  • Anticipate issues and propose solutions, manage dependencies and cross-functional issues, and identify the need to develop or improve tools/processes.
  • Represent and advocate for their team’s goals and deliverables throughout Android, with other Google teams and throughout the ecosystem of Android partners.
