Accountant, International Controllership (English, Mandarin)

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in accounting or a related function, or 1 year with an advanced degree in accounting, business, or finance.
  • Experience working with tax or audit filing within the Asia Pacific region.
  • Ability to communicate in English and Mandarin fluently to support client relationship management in this region.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience using SAP S4 HANA and understanding of accounting principles, including US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Experience in SQL including Google sheets and scripting.
  • Ability to evaluate datasets and combine these to identify gaps and summarize issues to assist in decision making.
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional, fluid environment, and interact with people at all levels of a company.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the annual statutory financial statements process, including management of the tax compliance for a portfolio of Alphabet entities in APAC.
  • Perform regular analysis on the financials, ensuring the integrity and financial accuracy of our books and records.
  • Manage the delivery of accounting processes performed by external vendors ensuring that all service levels are met, the internal control environment is well-established and a quality service is provided.
  • Represent Accounting and Finance with our business partners through communication with in-country business managers, Technical Accounting, Tax, Treasury, Legal, Regulatory Compliance, Internal Audit and Financial Planning.
  • Develop knowledge of tools and applications in support of the accounting function and highlight opportunities for improvement, managing projects that will yield efficiency through automation and optimization.
