Field Quality Program Manager (Mandarin)

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in program management.
  • 2 years of experience in a technical quality role (e.g., reliability, failure analysis, field quality) for hardware products in consumer electronics, automotive, or medical device sectors.
  • Ability to communicate in Mandarin fluently to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders based in Mandarin-speaking regions.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time to manufacturing sites, supplier facilities, or service/repair locations globally for investigations and audits.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience with statistical data analysis and problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Pareto analysis, Design of Experiment (DOE)).
  • Experience in root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions for complex hardware systems.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization and external partners.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

As a Field Quality Program Manager, you will be responsible for managing issue resolution for customer returns and high impact field issues throughout the product life cycle. Your primary responsibility will be to identify and resolve any product quality issues that affect customer satisfaction, experience, or delivery schedules. You will advocate important learning to further improve the product quality and reliability of future generation products. You will work and collaborate closely with various cross-functional internal teams (e.g., product development, hardware engineering, product operations, reliability, failure analysis, reverse logistics, customer service, manufacturing, supplier development engineering) to drive consensus, scope risk, and recommend next steps.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze field performance data (e.g., telemetry, data, customer feedback, diagnostic logs) to identify trends, anomalies, and potential quality issues and generate regular reports to communicate key insights to stakeholders.
  • Support root causes investigations for field failures, collaborating with design engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Track and execute containment actions and permanent corrective actions for identified quality issues, ensuring effective implementation across the supply chain.
  • Partner with New Product Introduction (NPI) teams to provide feedback from the field, influencing future product designs and manufacturing processes for improved quality.
  • Support field escalations from first signal through disposition and resolution.
