Hardware Reliability Engineer

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in applying Design for Reliability techniques.

Preferred qualifications:

  • PhD or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Materials Science, or a related field.
  • 2 years of experience working with overseas manufacturing partners.
  • Experience with failure analysis techniques for electrical, mechanical, or optical components.
  • Experience in consumer camera hardware development from concept to mass production.
  • Experience with JMP or Weibull++ for reliability modeling.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time as needed.

About the job

As a Reliability Engineer, you will play a key role in creating new consumer electronic products that meet a high bar for reliability and performance. You will work closely with the product management and design engineering teams to define standards, specify tests, and then supervise test execution and failure analysis. A broad engineering background and command of statistical methods will help to inform design of new products. Your strong interpersonal and communication skills will be key to ensuring adoption of your technical recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop reliability test plans and performance metrics to validate designs and utilize statistical data analysis to characterize product performance.
  • Conduct Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) and electrical, mechanical, functional tests, and experiments to develop solutions and troubleshoot performance issues.
  • Manage resources and projects involving multiple stakeholders, timelines, organizational implications, and changing circumstances.
  • Maintain an exceptional level of accuracy in data integrity, failure analysis, and root cause communication.
