Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of software development experience in programming, debugging, and designing large-scale systems.
  • 7 years of C++ experience.
  • Experience in distributed storage or databases.
  • Experience with databases and SQL (Dremel SQL, Google SQL) and query optimization.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with distributed systems or data infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of structured data/relational data management or query processing.
  • Ability to be a strong team player with a great sense of shared responsibility for our users and service.

F1 Query is a powerful and versatile GoogleSQL query engine that is used to solve a wide range of mission-critical data challenges at Google. It is used by over 300,000 monthly active users and 110,000 applications to efficiently read and combine data from multiple heterogeneous data sources.The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google’s flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. We look across Google’s products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $197,000-$291,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Help execute and implement F1 Query's roadmap through Design, Implementation, Testing, and Launching features and capabilities within F1 Query.
  • Be responsible for query optimization for F1 Query.
  • Strive to make SQL data processing easy to democratize data driven decisions at Google.
  • Manage correctness, performance (efficiency and latency), or privacy/security/data governance.
