Senior Software Engineer, Play Engineering Productivity

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages
  • 5 years of experience building developer tools that improve developer velocity, code quality and code health (e.g., compilers, automated releases, code design and testing, test automation frameworks).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
  • 5 years of experience with data structures or algorithms in either an academic or industry setting.
  • Experience with engineering productivity or platform services.

Google Play is establishing a new Engineering Productivity hub in Bangalore, India, as part of its significant expansion plans in the region. By joining our newly formed team, you'll play a crucial role in delivering impactful projects across various areas, including Play Monetization, Play Apps, and Play Games.

This opportunity is specifically for the Games Engineering Productivity team. Bengaluru Games is investing heavily with new projects which would require tools, infrastructure, analytics, and Service Level Objectives (SLOs).

Google Play offers music, movies, books, apps and games for devices, powered by the cloud. It syncs across devices and on the web. As part of the Android and Mobile team, Googlers working on Google Play do everything from engineering our backend systems, to shaping product strategy, to forming great content partnerships. They make it possible for people to do things like buy an ebook or song on their Android phone, then have it instantly available on their laptop. The Google Play team enhances the Android ecosystem by giving developers and partners a premium store where they can reach millions of users.

Responsibilities

  • Work as a team to deliver impactful milestones for Google's infrastructure.
  • Participate in coding, implementation, testing and productionization of major deliverables.
  • Act as the team's point-of-contact to other teams to provide guidance on how their systems needs can be best supported.
  • Innovate and experiment with various techniques to improve the system both in performance and functionalities.
  • Maintain a high bar and set the right design and coding standards.
