Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.
  • 2 years of experience in performance optimization.
  • 2 years of experience developing toolchain components (e.g., compilers, linkers, debuggers, system libraries) and programming in C/C++.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
  • 1 year of experience in graphics and rendering.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.

The Chrome Graphics Platforms and Architecture team works across Chrome's graphics stack, optimizing rendering performance, making sure Chrome keeps up with advancements in OS and GPU capabilities, while bringing a smooth and responsive experience to Chrome users on all platforms. The team is focused on desktop platforms (Windows, macOS, and Chrome OS) and mobile platforms (Android).

Chrome is dedicated to building a better, more open web. We’re focused on making a better browser (on both desktop and mobile) to help users take advantage of all the web has to offer in a safe and secure way.Chrome is available across all major platforms — iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, Linux and Chrome OS. We also built Chrome as an open source project so the entire web ecosystem could benefit from the latest innovations in speed, simplicity and security.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Work on Chrome's Android graphics stack in C++.
  • Write code that bridges between Chrome and the underlying GPU drivers and hardware to accelerate and optimize rendering, enhance memory consumption, CPU and GPU efficiency, crash rates, and overall system health.
  • Participate in team planning and retrospectives.
  • Collaborate with more senior developers on the team and build proficiency in one or more areas of our tech stack, and one or more desktop or mobile platforms.
