Senior Software Engineer, Front End, Public Sector

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products.
  • Experience in HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, and Angular development.
  • Experience with testing frameworks, server-side technologies, APIs, state management, and authentication flows.
  • Active or ability to obtain a TS/SCI US Government clearance.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working with large-scale, complex codebases and micro-frontend architectures.
  • Experience with advanced testing methodologies, including end-to-end testing frameworks (e.g., Cypress, Playwright).
  • Knowledge of web accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and building user interfaces.
  • Understanding of front-end performance optimization techniques and responsive design.
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity working with gRPC APIs.

Google Public Sector's Software Engineering and Technology team is a group of engineers dedicated to helping organizations leverage the power of Google Cloud technologies.

As a Front End Software Engineer, you will help build the next generation of web applications that millions (or billions) of users interact with daily. You will handle tough challenges in performance, architecture, and user experience, bridging the gap between elegant design and complex backend systems. You will be passionate about web technologies and want to drive the future of the web ecosystem.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $174,000-$252,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve front-end software applications.
  • Collaborate closely with UX designers, product managers, and backend engineers to deliver highly functional, intuitive, and accessible user interfaces.
  • Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Build reusable, scalable, and robust front-end architectures.
  • Optimize web applications for maximum speed, scalability, and performance.
