Category Manager, Engineering Services and Technical Solutions

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or related field.
  • 4 years of total work experience related to category management, procurement, or related fields.
  • 2 years of experience in sourcing, category management, or procurement roles, with a focus on managing engineering, technical operations or related categories.
  • Experience with sourcing strategies, “Request For” processes (i.e., RFP, RFI, RFQ), negotiations, and supplier evaluations within designated categories, achieving cost savings and value creation.
  • Experience with Contract Management within the Engineering and Technical Operations category, or related areas.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Advanced degree or certifications in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • Experience in developing and managing key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure category performance and track progress towards strategic goals.
  • Experience leveraging technology/investigative tools (i.e., SQL, AI tools) to enhance category management practices and drive data-driven decision-making.
  • Knowledge of ensuring contracts are in compliance with legal and company standards while partnering with cross-functional partners in this regard.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to lead strategic projects/initiatives aimed at improving procurement processes, implementing new strategies, or driving innovation within the category.

Within the Google Procurement Organization, the Category Management team partners closely with key stakeholders to help shape and implement procurement strategies. The Category Team is responsible for developing and driving holistic category strategies, managing stakeholder relationships, and bringing excellence to Google-wide sourcing, supplier, and contract management.

In this role, you will be responsible for pioneering innovative category and sourcing strategies, cultivating strategic supplier relationships, and optimizing spend categories through data-driven insights to unlock value for Google.The US base salary range for this full-time position is $107,000-$153,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Support development and execution of category strategies aligned with organizational objectives for assigned indirect spend categories.
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure quality service delivery and alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Partner directly with cross-functional product area stakeholders to design and support execution of sourcing strategies, RFx processes, negotiations, and supplier evaluations within designated categories.
  • Analyze global procurement spend data and industry market trends to identify data-driven value opportunities across Google.
  • Contribute to technology transformation efforts across the team through data integrity, systems design, and collaboration with Finance stakeholders.
