Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience with system architecture, distributed paradigms, and global infrastructure deployment (e.g., operating system administration, software-defined network configuration, identity and access management, Kubernetes).
- 2 years of experience with security engineering, computer and network security and security protocols.
- Experience coding in one or more general purpose languages.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in security assessments, security design reviews, or threat modeling.
- Experience delivering comprehensive security solutions through design, coding, configuration, and deployment.
- Experience with automated deployment models, such as Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) and GitOps.
- Knowledge of key security areas, such as threat modeling and incident response, and compliance frameworks, such as NIST 800-53, NIST 800-171, ITSG-33, C5, ISM, and ISO.
- Ability to secure products on GCP using tools like Terraform or Ansible.

Our Security team works to create and maintain the safest operating environment for Google's users and developers. Security Engineers work with network equipment and actively monitor our systems for attacks and intrusions. In this role, you will also work with software engineers to proactively identify and fix security flaws and vulnerabilities.As a Senior Security Engineer within Google Public Sector (GPS), you will be on the front lines, translating the key concept of Google Cloud into mission-critical solutions. You will be delivering tailored technical solutions that accelerate digital transformation across our regulated market segments.
In this role, you will leverage your technical expertise in cloud security and infrastructure, combined with an understanding of public sector security compliance frameworks and mission needs. You will actively support customer engagements, participate in pre-sale activities, and contribute to building and securing internal GPS assets.

We focus on helping United States public sector institutions accelerate their digital transformations, and we continue to make significant investments and grow our team to meet the complex needs of local, state and federal government and educational institutions.The US base salary range for this full-time position is $166,000-$244,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Design and deliver novel, scalable security solutions and custom assets, (e.g., production code, sample code, best practices, etc.) that reduce risks and satisfy or exceed customer objectives.
- Define and drive long-term security strategies, multi-year roadmaps, and goals for ambiguous technical problems.
- Build relationships with executive cross-functional stakeholders, partners, and customers to deliver quality technical solutions and influence major product decisions.
- Evaluate security risks, contribute to policy definitions, and lead the full solution life-cycle from development strategy and testing to launch.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to drive team performance, and actively establish technical relationships with engineering groups to strengthen the broader business.
