Engineering Analyst, Payments Trust and Safety

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 year of experience in data analysis, including identifying trends, generating summary statistics, and drawing insights from quantitative and qualitative data.
  • 1 year of experience managing projects and defining project scope, goals, and deliverables.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a quantitative discipline.
  • 1 year of experience with one or more of the following languages: SQL, R, Python, or C++.
  • Experience with fraud, security, and threat analysis within Cloud service providers along with understanding of of fraud dynamics online.
  • Experience with project management and process improvement with a data analytics component along with ability to identify workflow issues, improve processes.
  • Ability to interact with internal and external users, along with excellent communication skills.

About the job

Trust & Safety team members are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. They use technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and our partners from abuse across Google products like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. On this team, you are a team-player with a passion for doing what’s right. You work globally and cross-functionally with Google engineers and product managers to identify and fight abuse and fraud cases at Google speed - with urgency. And you take pride in knowing that every day you are working hard to promote trust in Google and ensuring the highest levels of user safety.

You will be responsible for restricting or preventing policy violators and abusers to ensure a safe and secure Payments environment for the users. You identify and solve problems and have technical skills to innovate and improve our processes and tools. You are organized, responsible and are able to work in a fluid, global, cross-functional, and team-oriented environment and demonstrate technical knowledge, excellent communication to get things done. You will also work with product and engineering teams to make sure that new products and features provide a good, safe experience for users at Google speed.

We partner with teams across Google to deliver bold solutions in abuse areas such as malware, spam and account hijacking. A team of Analysts, Policy Specialists, Engineers, and Program Managers, we work to reduce risk and fight abuse across all of Google’s products, protecting our users, advertisers, and publishers across the globe in over 40 languages.

Responsibilities

  • Prevent fraud and abuse by identifying trends and products that are violating policies in Google Payment. Perform statistical data analysis and identify patterns and trends. Design and build measurement and reporting platforms.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Product teams to create and improve tools, develop signals, system functionality, and reporting framework.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to evolve and improve enforcement strategy and enhance the experience of the users. Lead projects through the full project life-cycle that require cross-functional stakeholder management.
  • Respond to escalations from internal and external parties within designated service levels.
  • Facilitate and manage operations programs, working with Google engineers, product managers and vendor operations to develop and track project schedules and timelines.
