About the job
A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.
With the huge success of Google's products comes a huge growth in demand for compute capacity. Google invests billions of dollars in computers, networks, and data centers. We build the systems that empower that growth. We work on complex multivariable problems by building highly reliable and available systems that help optimize cost, availability and reduce human involvement in the alphabet supply chain solutions space. We work across several groups, and our efforts have a wide cross-organizational impact. We are looking for a strong technical program manager who grows in ambiguity, can understand the needs of the business and solve those needs through technology. Our end-goal is to build a closed-loop, self-learning system that covers the entire business life-cycle of Supply Planning and Fulfillment, and handles the majority of use-cases, leaving humans to agreement with exceptions only.
Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of supply chain software development programs, spanning supply planning, execution, and asset management, working across numerous internal teams and external partners.
- In partnership with leadership, set the goal and direction for programs, outlining goals, objectives, and defining program controls/governance/standards.
- Scope, plan, and manage projects, including financial and human resources, quality of software development, risks, schedules, communication plans, and deliverables.
- Initiate new software development programs, identifying and delivering features that drive performance, scale, functionality, security, quality, and efficiency.
- Business Operations activities: annual planning (finalizing annual portfolio of programs and associated headcount allocation), operational expense budget allocation and tracking along with vendor management, portfolio management and on-going reporting at the portfolio level, travel and expense tracking.
