Network Implementation Engineer, Lab and Architecture

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering or Telecom Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience in Dense Wave-Division Multiplexing (DWDM) or Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) or system design operations methodology.
  • Experience in working with field operation technicians, engineers, contractors, or vendors in a telecommunications environment.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience with working in a technological field with technological changes.
  • Experience with network planning and engineering, including data center network engineering in environments.
  • Experience in managing data center constraints with the knowledge of data center physical layouts, infrastructure, and standards (e.g., power, space, cooling, operations and network).
  • Experience with two or more of the following: server hardware and software, network hardware and software, data center infrastructure and operations or mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Knowledge in data networking architectures and physical network components.

About the job

As a Network Implementation Engineer, you will be the initial point of our efforts to execute deployment, maintenance, and operations of private data networks worldwide. You will work with Technical Program Managers, Network Engineers, Design and Infrastructure Engineers, Field Engineers within Google, as well as construction and telecommunications vendors and contractors, all to position your team and organization for success.

You will facilitate faster, better, and more efficient, positive outcomes for the business and our customers. Your objective will be to build the world’s most reliable, cost-effective and scalable network to support all of our current and future customers and users globally.

The Network Deployment Engineering (NDE) team is at the forefront of introducing new technology to Google's network and infrastructure.

In this role, you will evaluate the ability to deploy across Google's network by working with cross-partner teams. You will build the technological and process knowledge necessary to assess New Product Introduction (NPI) readiness through a series of communications, reviews and retrospectives. You will prepare for delivery of capacity using the new technology. You will create and review new processes with stakeholders.Google's network provides services to millions of Internet users around the world. Our metros are on the edge of our network where Google connects to its users. The Network Team is responsible for operating that network reliably and at scale. Our team owns the full life cycle of all space, power, and network assets in all of Google’s data centers and metro points of presence globally. From the foundation, we are involved from site acquisition to construction and are accountable for what space and power is delivered. We're involved in every facet of network delivery from architecture and design to installation, configuration, activation, and commissioning.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $122,000-$174,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Develop and produce detailed designs in support of network architecture development and product updates. Collaborate across multiple Artificial Intelligence (AI) and infrastructure stakeholders to drive outcomes across networking domains.
  • Build new processes, standards and documentation to scale project implementations in multiple technical areas. Design solutions using expertise and influence for new product and hardware introductions.
  • Lead or contribute to programs through application of research and use of partnerships with other technical domain areas.
  • Provide support to Technical Program Managers (TPMs) working on programs within Network Architecture portfolios as a point of escalation.
  • Create or maintain and drive multi-year networking roadmaps for various products, upgrades and decommission validations on YAWNS, Jenga Tech and Colocations.
