Senior Director, Engineering, BigQuery Generative AI

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of professional experience in engineering leadership or related technical roles.
  • 5 years of experience working with Machine Learning, AI, Large Language Models (LLM) to process and create data.
  • Experience operating in a hyper-growth entrepreneurial environment, scaling new and emerging products from the ground-up.

Preferred qualifications:

  • PhD in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Experience working in the data and analytics or Business Intelligence space.
  • Experience bringing innovative, industry-leading, category-defining tech products to market.
  • Experience working with executive level internal and external clients/partners, acting as a representative of the company.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally, partnering with groups (e.g., Product Management, Product Marketing, UX and UI), brokering trade offs with stakeholders and understanding their needs.

As the Director for BigQuery Generative AI (GenAI), you will play a pivotal role in building highly differentiated products for our customers. In this capacity, you will influence and set outlook, strategy, and roadmaps for the projects we execute in our BigQuery portfolio, and have a unique organization-wide view across all our products: BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, and others.

As Senior Director, Engineering, you will be responsible for leading teams of engineers in the development and delivery of Machine Learning and GenAI powered data analytics products. You will work closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to ensure that GenAI is used to its full potential to create innovative features for BigQuery. Your expertise in analytics, ML, AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), and GenAI will guide the teams to build tools and platforms that will empower BigQuery users to get more value and better informed decisions out of the data.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $323,000-$465,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Lead several teams covering the whole spectrum of data analytics from data organization and data exploration to results.
  • Work closely with product management to define the product roadmap and ensure that GenAI is used to its full potential.
  • Collaborate with designers to create user-friendly and intuitive data analytics interfaces.
  • Work with other stakeholders to ensure that GenAI-powered data analytics products are aligned with the company's overall business goals.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest trends in Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
