Technical Program Manager II, Software Engineering, Search

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience managing IT projects or teams.
  • Experience with software development and managing execution of programs that span multiple engineering teams.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Certification in Scrum Master, Project Management Institute (PMI) or equivalent.
  • 2 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience working in a multi-stakeholder environment of Engineering, Product and Operation teams.
  • Ability to use technical judgment to solve software engineering challenges involving bug triage, source control, continuous integration, etc.
  • Ability to take accountability and ownership, you are an owner in this, not just a facilitator.
  • Excellent communication skills.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

In this role, you will be responsible for formulating the query, providing users with great suggestions. You will have the opportunity to make Google a visual product by changing how users use Google and how they get their answers. You will find great product results to users across multiple verticals (Shopping, homegoods, food) and as users have many options it's critical that you provide high quality results.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with all aspects of the development process from understanding success definition, requirements, to design, development, deployment readiness, and measurement. 
  • Manage engineering projects for Suggest and Lens, collaborate with Product and Engineering teams.
    Understand technical subjects and communicate with Engineering teams to bring clarity for cross-functional projects with vague requirements.
  • Plan projects, track and execute projects as well as mitigate risk and deliver on time.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to drive processes and exercise technical and product judgment to resolve project issues speeding up infrastructure and feature planning, analysis and development.
  • Identify, communicate, and collaborate with relevant stakeholders within one or more teams to drive impact and work toward mutual goals.
